"I'm afraid that there are not enough adjectives in the language to fully describe the feeling of well-being and euphoria in Farrell's music making which I believe to be peerless." (TheWholenote.com)

"I'm afraid that there are not enough adjectives in the language to fully describe the feeling of well-being and euphoria in Farrell's music making which I believe to be peerless. The composers on these discs are all of the Romantic era, from Chopin to Rachmaninov. The sensitivity and clarity of his playing is immediately engaging, with the listener (this one) hanging on every note. He had a measure of personal touch which was always at the service of the composer, now delivering to the listener of these recordings music-making of the very highest order. Richard Farrell brings new excitement and insights to familiar repertoire making listening an experience of rewarding re-discovery." (TheWholenote.com)

In the article "Richard Farrell - the recordings" which appeared in the booklet accompanying Volume One of this present series, an overview of Farrell's activities in the studio was presented - the pianist made five LP and several 45rpm EP (extended play) discs, as well as setting down a number of performances which never appeared on vinyl.

The present Volume Two gathers together the remainder of the studio recordings: two complete LPs, each of them solo recital discs - one of Brahms (Pye CCL 30109) and the other of Rachmaninov (Pye CCL30138), plus four EP discs and a number of unissued performances of Chopin's solo piano music. Some of the Chopin did turn up unexpectedly on CD in the early 1990s, in a reissue series devoted to the Pye catalogue recordings purchased by EMI, called Phoenixa.
