The cold winter of occupation raises tensions in Villeneuve. Since June 1941, and the opening of the Russian front in WW2, paranoias have increased about Communists in the village of Villeneuve. Arrests are made by mistake at the school, the mayor is having difficulties with supply, and the townspeople are cutting their own deals with the Nazis.
