Based on Ernest Hemingway's acclaimed novel, For Whom The Bell Tolls follows idealistic American Robert Jorand (Academy Award Winner Gary Cooper) as he travels abroad teaming up with the guerrilla forces and fight in the Spanish Civil War.

Tasked with blowing up a bridge behind enemy lines, Jordan is distracted by partisan Maria (Academy Award Winner Ingrid Bergman) at base camp, who catches his eye and his heart. As Jordan's love for Maria grows, he not only begins to question his assignment and his politic, but also his place in this foreign war far from home.
