Stellar* -- featuring singer / songwriter Boh Runga -- return to the scene with their third album ‘Something Like Strangers’. The title stems from lyrics in the single "For a While" -- a captivating song featuring the soaring vocals of Andy Lovegrove (Breaks Co-op).
During a well-earned break following the last album 'Magic Line' (2001), Boh Runga spent some time in LA working with some of North America’s finest song writers, including Wendy Melvoin (Prince & the Revolution), and Grammy nominee Shelly Peiken (who co-wrote the first single Whiplash). Kurt Shanks (bass) spent time in Sydney, while Chris Van de Geer (guitar) and Andrew Maclaren (drums) built a state-of-the-art recording studio -- simultaneously producing albums for other artists.
Throughout 2005 & 2006 the band began crafting ‘Something Like Strangers’, once again with the assistance of Tom Bailey and Luke Tombes. Asked what listeners should expect, Andrew says “We’ve stripped it back so the essence of these songs can clearly speak. We’ve made our strongest album to date.”
