[ Polydor Records / CD ]

Release Date: Monday, 18 May, 2009

Originally released in 1976 (and digitally re-mastered in 2009), this was the first Stones album to feature new boy, Ronnie Wood -- it's chock-a-block with cool reggae 'n' rockers, ballads 'n' blues, and features Billy Preston on keyboards.

For some reason, 'Black and Blue' is the album that people love to point to as "evidence" that the Stones were through in the mid 1970s. Maybe it's because this album featured a number of guest guitarists as part of the audition for the departed Mick Taylor.

At any rate, there are at least 5 great songs here: the 3 reggae tunes: "Hot Stuff" (of course!), "Hey Negrita", "Cherry Oh Baby"; and 2 classic Stones rockers: "Hand of Fate" and "Crazy Mama" that make 'Black and Blue' well worth owning... in fact, it's essential!

Tracks:
1. Hot Stuff
2. Hand of Fate
3. Cherry Oh Baby
4. Memory Motel
5. Hey Negrita
6. Melody
7. Fool to Cry
8. Crazy Mama
