Here's some great New Zealand music, combining the essential strands of R'n'B, Garageland Rock, Punk & Merseybeat -- re-issued to celebrate 30 years of The Furys!
In early 2004, the three remaining performing members of The Furys -- Dave McLean (vocals/guitar), Rob Galley (guitar) and Simon Elton (bass guitar) decided to mark their 25th Anniversary with a single concert at The Kings Arms, in Auckland. Top session drummer, Johnny Scott, was selected to complete the line-up.
Because of everybody's busy work schedule, one rehearsal had to be sufficient and on Tuesday 21st December 2004 the band played a "best of" show to an enthusiastic audience of old fans. The concert was recorded and this CD is the result -- 21 hot tracks including old favourites "Down to the Doctors", "Milk & Alcohol", "I Knew the Bride" and a killer version of their hit single "Auckland Fun", plus another 4 of McLean's originals.
Unlike the 'Anthology' CD (2002) which told the story of The Furys, this CD also tells the story of the songs, their origins and their influence on the band.
