Solti's monumental recording now remastered
Der fliegende Holländer was the first of Solti's recordings made with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It is a highly dramatic recording of Wagner's early masterpiece, starring Norman Bailey as the Dutchman and Martti Talvela as Daland.
Sir Georg Solti, who would have been 90 years old this year, remains particularly associated with the operas of Richard Wagner.
These legendary recordings were made over the entire course of Solti's career with Decca (almost 50 years!) and boast some of the finest Wagnerian performances ever committed to disc.
Each opera is packaged in a slipcase with full libretto and translations.
"… at the early age of 35, it was clear that he was already one of the outstanding conductors of his time" (the great Wagnerian bass-baritone Hans Hotter on Sir Georg Solti)
