Brand new outting from Barbara Bonney

"A meticulously programmed, perceptively delivered recital of real and obvious quality. She claims Schumann's song-cycle Dichterliebe for the soprano repertoire. Typically, Bonney has approached the work anew - and gloriously!"
Editor's Choice Gramophone May 2002

US soprano, Barbara Bonney follows a recent string of critically acclaimed discs with a new recording of Liszt French and German songs and Schumann's Dichterliebe, with pianist, Antonio Pappano.

The recording of a collection of Scandinavian songs "Diamonds in the Snow" with Antonio Pappano at the piano, won the Gramophone Award for Best Solo Vocal recording in 2000.

Schumann's song cycle, Dichterliebe, though written for and usually sung by men, the aspects of disappointed love, can almost all be equally applied to a woman's point of view and the beauty of the music is well served by Barbara Bonney's exquisite singing.

'She is one of the great Lieder interpreters of her generation. I cannot think of another singer who currently surpasses her in the balance of sheer vocal beauty, expressiveness, intelligence and that elusive factor, character.' Classic CD
