The recording of a collection of Scandinavian songs "Diamonds in the Snow" with Antonio Pappano at the piano, won the Gramophone Award for Best Solo Vocal recording in 2000.

Schumann's song cycle, Dichterliebe, though written for and usually sung by men, the aspects of disappointed love, can almost all be equally applied to a woman's point of view and the beauty of the music is well served by Barbara Bonney's exquisite singing.
