"In a sense, all music is sacred, because it seems to come to us from a divine source" says Plácido Domingo.

Plácido Domingo has recorded an entirely new album of sacred songs, arias, and duets - material that he has never recorded before. "Over the years, sacred music has always been close to me, and I wanted to make the recording because I believe that there are occasions when people at home want to listen to this kind of music."

The pieces cover a period of 300 years, from the early 18th century to our own day. Among them can be found such well-loved favorites as Franck's Panis Angelicus and the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria as well as selections that will be new to many listeners, including the Kyrie by the popular Rome-born composer Paolo Rustichelli and the Ave Maria by Plácido Domingo, Jr., second of the great Spanish tenor's three sons.

In two duets Plácido Domingo is joined by Sissel, the Norwegian-born singer and actress, whom he first met at the Olympics in Lillehammer in 1994.
