"This is a superb issue, and deserves wide circulation I can recommend it highly. The UK's loss is Australia's gain." (MusicWeb Aug 2005)

'Those who know Exsultate, jubilate well will notice that here the oboes are replaced by flutes (with less to do in the last movement) and that the words of the first movement and the recitative which follows it are different; the reason is that this performance is based on a manuscript discovered in 1979, which seems to have been prepared for a performance in Salzburg in 1780 for the feast of the Holy Trinity. Emma Kirby sings it with stunning virtuosity, with never a note or an inflection out of place, and she adds some nice flourishes and cadenzas at appropriate points ... Emma Kirby sings the exacting solo parts with apparently effortless fluency ... these are spectacular performances, enhanced by the fine choral and orchestral support guided by the sure hand of Christopher Hogwood, and vividly recorded.'
