A delightful woodwind sound emerged into the limelight at the beginning of the 18th century and at the centre of it all was the Clarinet. Technical innovations made it possible to combine virtuosity, a cantabile style with an unprecedented wealth of timbre. The art of the great clarinet virtuosi inspired many of the composers of the Romantic era to compose with new zeal. Carl Maria Von Weber was among the composers who was wooed by the instruments' subtle magic. He penned several of the most significant romantic clarinet works, which unite technical show, lyrical lines and great joie de vivre.
