Christopher Hogwood and The Academy of Ancient Music made many recordings of Mozart for Decca and produced the most comprehensive set of recordings of the symphonies undertaken and a major set of the concertos and some of the important choral works.
This recording of one of Mozart's operas, Die Entführung aus dem Serail was made in 1990 after a series of stage performances. The recording uses the critical edition from the Neue Mozart Ausgabe. It also includes a march in act one which was recorded for the first time.
