MISHMASH... I was taking a bath... in a glass bubble!
Drop into the MISHMASH!... experience the (sight &) sounds of bottled fun in the order of the new Regurgitator album for 2005 - fifth in line of a cornucopia of offset recording processes.

The feverished minds of innovation have always presented a novel approach to creating and recording music - relocating to a rebel Thai popstars studio in Bangkok for Tu Plang; setting up studio in a condemned Fortitude Valley warehouse for Unit; gravitating down to the salubrious surrounds of Watego Beach to overrun a beach house and record in the sun to make ...art; hanging around in their home studios before transferring to London to mix in the house of Gang of Four's Andy Gill and cut up Eduardo & Rodriguez Wage War on T-wrecks... to finally the grandaddy of screwed up experimentation and audio dislocation - the Bubble in Federation Square, Melbourne. Originally offered by Paul, as an extreme take on their already askew approach, back around discussions for ...art - thankfully it was ignored as the ramblings of a disengaged person that has since gone on to provide an opportunity for the latest album termed MISHMASH!

That this project unfolded under the gaze of independence is a thing of marvel; in that the band is releasing the album via their manager's stream of passion label - Valve Records. Convincing Magoo to take the distorted step of agreeing to live through and help setup the Bubble to record in, was also combined with his return to working with the band after his previous production efforts on Tu Plang, Unit and ...art. Assisted by stage tech cum engineer Hugh Webb... and desisted by TV character Jabba, they interred themselves for 500 hours in a petri dish of scrambled sounds and perverse celebrity-ism. The rats in a test-tube cut slick on a diet of mishmallow mashups and Quan's mother's tincan nouveau chow. The stash and churn public exposé, cut and pasted their chop shopping souls into transmission submission as their creative progress competed with the demands of televisionland and the commands of the celebrity munching public attempting to train the exhibits in their direction.

Along for the ride were the extraordinary animals wandering free of spirit - the Sonic Manipulator who transferred his astro-electronics to an onstage performance on their emergence on the Fed Square stage; Victor Lancaster the street beating cruise sensation; Wiley J. with his freespeaking passion and funkfreakness; Victor the dancer forging a long overdue eccentricity for his sub-line dancing - along with the many musical and non-musical entities that felt a need to interact and whose contributions (audio, visual, written...) find themselves smudging the fabric of this musical document. Sounds of the square... strained through the interjection of the queer and unusual...

What can be said that hasn't already been seen... no wires, no hidden cameras, no mirrors, no smoke... just MISHMASH! 13 tracks of bubblegum squeeze all pasted into an eggroll of fantasm and fun.
