Born in Balclutha and raised in Owaka Valley on the family farm, Raylee came to Auckland in 1996 as a vocal student at Excel School of Performing Arts - which has also been the vocal school of Sarah Brown, Vince Hardding, Adeaze, and Ben Lummis. After a spell studying Raylee has spent the last 9 years teaching vocal lessons at various institutions including Excel, Avondale College, and the Hilton Hotel among others.
In 2004 Raylee privately released her self titled EP of five original songs which went on to sell 500 copies. During this time she sung on various projects for other people including Christian bands such as Detour 180 and Parachute Band.
Her 'Walk a Mile' EP was recorded in May 2008 and was launched at the Langham Hotel on the 22nd August in front of friends and family. These 5 beautiful tracks from Raylee cover a range of topics - the challenges of life, grace, and loss - all put together in Raylee's easy melodic style. Her sound is all her own, crossing many genres - very easy on the ear.
Accompanying Raylee on the album is Paul Toilalo guitars, Adrian Stent drums and Russell McNoughton on bass. These guys are young up and coming artists and set the tone throughout.
