Bond Street Bridge is the non de plume of Auckland-based multi-instrumentalist Sam Prebble, who has succeeded in piecing together this intricate, yet robust, album of touching songs.

Bond Street Bridge is the non de plume of Auckland-based multi-instrumentalist Sam Prebble, familiar to many via his parts in the Broken Heartbreakers, Reb Fountain's Bandits, White Swan Black Swan, Dylan Storey and Andy Gibson songs and bands.

His fiddle playing and string arrangements with these acts, and his experience with orchestras means he brings a strong sense of lushness and interplay between the many instruments featured here on his solo debut, The Mapmaker's Art.

Working by himself, Prebble coloured and contrasted the album over time, crafting an often surprising collection of songs which blend guitars, violin, mandolin, piano, organs, percussion and vocals with glitchy beats, warm reverbs, rolling basslines and washed-out ape echoes - producing a sound that is at once both nostalgic and innovative.

With echoes of NZers Demarnia Lloyd, Cloudboy, Bachelorette and SJD, as well as the likes of Bjork, Beck, Neko Case, Thom Yorke and Leonard Cohen, Prebble has succeeded in piecing together this intricate, yet robust, album of touching songs.
