Renowned musician Boz Scaggs presents 'Speak Low', a collection of standards from the silken-voiced singer and his first studio album in five years.
From his 1960s days as the lead singer of the Steve Miller Band, Boz Scaggs has always had an undercurrent of jazz influence in his phrasing. Therefore, 'Speak Low' should come as no surprise to longtime fans. No mere raid on the Great American Songbook, 'Speak Low' is a personal, canny follow-up to 2003's collection of standards, 'But Beautiful'.
Co-produced with Gil Goldstein, Boz Scaggs interprets Ellington, Mercer, Rodgers & Hart, and other classic writers and composers. In addition to Goldstein on piano / keyboards, the line up includes Alex Acuna (drums), Bob Sheppard (woodwinds), and Scott Colley (bass).
