Singer, musician and composer - Tamar McLeod Sinclair is one of the few solo female New Zealand artists who set out on her own to learn from other cultures and to share her music on an international level. During her time overseas, Tamar has trained and sung with highly acclaimed international artists, teachers, schools and theatre companies: Peter K Elkus (chosen by Maria Callas for one of the coveted openings of the Juilliard Opera Theatre in NYC) of L'Association Art Musique Européenne; Lisa Sokolov (front line New York jazz vocalist and teacher from The Experimental Theatre Wing in NYU and famous Czech Gypsy singer and teacher Ida Kelarova with her International School for Human Voice.

Performing concerts and participating in a wide range of events across Europe, USA and The Pacific, Tamar's past dates have included: Stimmen (Voice) Festival in Lörrach, Germany; world music festival Gypsy Summer Celebration in Svojanov Castle, Czech Republic; human rights & anti-racism Edelwiess Piraten Festival in Köln, Germany; science & art conferences at Monte Verita in Ticino, Switzerland & Cortona Week in Toscana, Italy; crossing the cultural borders Grenzgang Festival in Köln, Germany and Take One Action Film Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. She has also walked 1200kms on the pilgrimage El Camino de Santiago from Lourdes in France to Cape Finisterre in Spain.

Tamar's unique debut album 'The Heart Notes' reflects the profound (and for some mind boggling) experiences from her travels. Five years in the making, from the darkness to the light, Tamar tells her extra-ordinary story in an honest, original and touching way. She is joined on the album by a fine collection of top international musicians from 12 different countries around the world. Together with Czech co-producer Martin Kašpar, Tamar recorded, mixed and mastered 'The Heart Notes' for CD and LP at some of the music industry's finest studios in Europe including Sono Records in Praha, Czech Republic; Blind Records in Barcelona, Spain; Red Barn Studios in Perthshire, Scotland and The Exchange Mastering Studios in London.

Tamar will perform her solo show around the North Island of New Zealand, before her "Return to the North", which will feature the music from 'The Heart Notes'. Tamar's presence, her laugh, charisma and natural beauty will draw you into a rich inner landscape of the human heart. Accompanying her-self on the piano, Tamar weaves enchanting melodies with her dynamic, powerful and tender voice. Singing her heart out, Tamar evokes deep emotions and connects to her listener in an immediate and personal way. Drawing inspiration from her Maori and Pacific Island roots, influenced by her jazz education, interacting with world music and empowered by her soulful journeys, Tamar combines very eclectic musical styles. Singing in a variety of different languages including Te Reo Maori, Roma/Gypsy, Gaelic and Spanish, Tamar is an international treasure not to be missed!
