2013 release from the Alt-Country band. In 2010, the Deadstring Brothers did a reverse of the great Southern Migration, decamping from hometown Detroit and moving to Nashville. And while you can never, ever take all the Detroit out of a Detroiter, Cannery Row has a loose-limbed melancholy reminiscent of the Laurel Canyon folk scene, the outlaw Nashville days and the Upstate NY counterculture spirit of the Band. Like a hitchhiker with a dirty backpack, a well-worn leather hat, a beat up guitar case and a wistful distant smile, the Brothers have piled up stories like the highway miles and created something pretty damn close to that old G. Parsons dream of Cosmic American Music.

Cannery Row mixes the band's Motor City roots with analog Americana, retro twang and a healthy obsession with Southern California s country-rock glory days. --American Songwriter

The combination of Marschke's weary vocals, combined with the emotional steel guitar and soulful organ on Cannery Row, is simply unbeatable. --Country Standard Time

Marschke makes highly self-conscious references to Gram and Emmylou, Laurel Canyon folk, California, the open road, even the Mercy Lounge. But thanks to effortless craftsmanship and a deceptively easygoing delivery, the music never sounds like it's trying too hard. --Nashville Scene

Their most varied, and rewarding album to date…offering tunes that span the spectrum between strum-driven Americana, to an ample dose of classic rock hooks, to tried and true singer-songwriter woven narratives. --No Depression

Like a fine wine, Detroit alternative country outfit Deadstring Brothers get better with age. The band continues their career-long winning streak this makes it five albums and counting with the release of the sublime Cannery Row... Truth be told, there isn't a bad song among the 11 making this an essential purchase for fans and newcomers alike. --The Daily News
