A Golden Age Of Lonnie Donegan

By the time A Golden Age Of Donegan was released in 1962, it was said that Lonnie had broken almost more records than he made; he had become the first British artist to sell more than a million copies of his first record, the first to have made his stage debut as top of the bill, the first to have got an EP and LP into the best-sellers lists and first to have gained placings in the Top Five of the charts for all of his first five records. Thus A Golden Age Of Donegan was something of a compilation, highlighting just how successful an artist he had become. Of course, the stand out track was My Old Man's A Dustman, something of a radical departure for Lonnie but a chart topper in 1960. The album also did brisk business, hitting #3 and spending some six months on the chart.
