The Family Law is a provocative, authentic and humorous look into the real and riotous world of a Chinese-Australian family. Inspired by the book of the same title, which was a collection of personal essays by writer Benjamin Law, the series introduces audiences to the real Law family - mum Jenny, father Danny, Ben and his four siblings.

Our guide is 14-year old clarinet playing Benjamin Law slightly self-obsessed with aspirations to be famous despite a mouth jammed full of orthodontic work. The comic centre of the family is Benjamin's mother Jenny earthy, forthright, colourful, prone to malapropisms and oversharing information, much to her children's embarrassment.

While the story is unique to the family and told through the prism of the teenage Ben, there are many points of recognition, relatability and commonality for families everywhere - the ups and downs of daily family life and parents under stress, the chaos, madness, love, irritation, bonds and funny sibling squabbles. With its clever humour, loveable characters, and tales of familial dysfunction the series has universal appeal.

Contains six episodes.

The series is set on the Sunshine Coast during a long hot summer. It is written by Benjamin Law and Marieke Hardy.
