Huge on the world music circuits, Cesaria is known as the barefoot diva. Coming from the Portuguese territiory of Cape Verde, her music is steeped in Fado tradition whilst the lyrics have a simplicity of message to them (very similar to the Buena Vista style of Cuban music). Caesaria journeyed to Brazil to record this, thus it has a strong new influence and has some heavy-weight guests also-Bonnie Raitt, Pedro Guerra from Spain, Brazilian superstar Caetano Veluso and Chucho Valdes.The mystique of Nina Simone mixed with the effervescence of Brazil.
