Julia Brown was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in 1965. After graduating from Unicamp - State University of Campinas - in piano, she received a scholarship from the Brazilian Government to study organ at Northwestern University - Evanston, IL. She received her MM and DMA, in the class of Wolfgang Rübsam. Back in Brazil between 1996 and 1999, she was president of the ABO - Brazilian Association of Organists and helped to organize the 5th Convention of Latin American Organists, the 3rd Festival of Sacred Music in São Paulo and began a concert series on the historical Cavaillé-Coll in the Campinas Cathedral. She has recorded several CDs and programs for National Public Radio. She has concertized in North and South America and in Europe. She is presently organist at First United Methodist Church is Eugene, Oregon, USA.
