"A splendid follow-up to Chandos's 1999 Vol 1 of music by two Anglo-Australians. Hubert Clifford (1904-59) left Australia to come to London where he worked for the BBC and with Alexander Korda at London Films. Edgar Bainton (1880-1956) emigrated to Australia in 1934 and worked as Director of the New South Wales State Conservatorium in Sydney. Both write in a very appealing, late-Romantic idiom which in the case of Bainton is at times reminiscent of Howells. Heartfelt, polished advocacy for some neglected music - a job well done."
