Very talented and popular Kiwi entertainer. Includes "Damn The Dam" and "Lovely Lady" hits
John Hanlon was born in Malaya to Chinese-European parents and was raised in Kuala Lumpar and Singapore. He was sent to boarding school in Australia, before eventually moving to New Zealand during the early sixties with his family deciding to live in Auckland.
His first album, Floating, was released in 1973 to critical acclaim. It's first single, Damn The Dam, reached number five on the national chart and also won the RATA award for Single Of The Year.
In 1974, John wrote and performed Lovely Lady which would become the most successful record of his career reaching number one nationally, remaining on the charts for an amazing twenty weeks, and winning for him the APRA Silver Scroll award. 1975's, Higher Trails, produced two successful singles Apple Wine plus the title song.
This compilation covers a selection of tracks from the Higher Trails and Garden Fresh eras, certainly a highlight in the career of a very talented and popular Kiwi entertainer.
