'Energy and wit abound in music with plenty of stories to tell.'
(Gramophone)

'Here, as in the other two works here, MacMillan obtains excellent results from his Manchester players…You have then, authoritative performances here - in excellent sound, too.'
International Record Review

This is Chandos' second disc of James MacMillan's work performed by the BBC Philharmonic. The first was extremely well received.

The disc features the premiere performance of Into the Ferment.

James MacMillan is one of Britain's most successful contemporary composers with a high international profile. As well as appearing as guest conductor with many of the UK's top orchestras, he is currently Affiliate Composer of The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, resident of the USA's Saratoga Festival and Composer/Conductor in Residence with the BBC Philharmonic.

Martin Roscoe has worked with all the major UK orchestras under some of the UK's most eminent conductors. His performances are regularly broadcast on Radio 3. He has formed particularly strong links with the BBC Philharmonic and was the pianist for their recent recording of Addinsell's Warsaw Concerto on Chandos.
