London-born (but American raised) David Rose (1915-1990) has a special niche in music history. Conductor, composer, arranger, his many film scores were among the most accomplished of the 40s and 50s, and he was also much admired for his characteristic light pieces.
Holiday For Strings was David Rose' great million seller of the 40s, and it spearheads Living Era's hugely enjoyable concert of his work. 11 tracks feature his own delightful compositions, such as Dance Of The Spanish Onion, Our Waltz, One Love and Manhattan Square Dance, while the remaining 14 all benefit from his stylish arrangements.
