"A major series of period-instrument Mozart is launched in fine style. This a disc that celebrates a stimulating partnership. Podger's way with Baroque repertoire is well known so it is good to hear her in some Classical music. She and Cooper show that Mozart's piano and violin sonatas are nowhere near as well known as they should be."

"The astoundingly mature playing ... full of character in near flawless performances of works that are packed with high quality and extraordinary interest"
- Recording of the Month (MusicWeb Feb 2005)

After her very succesfull Bach solo sonatas and partita's and award winner Vivaldi's La Stravaganza it's time -among other projects- for Rachel Podger to record the complete series of Mozart's sonatas for keyboard and violin.

The series will be completed during 2005.

"In recording these Mozart Sonatas, a paradox quickly became apparent. I feel Mozart's music is aimed at the heart. Approaching his music instinctively comes most naturally to me: it seems so effortlessly composed, and communicates to us directly. After all, why do children react so positively to this music of the heart? And yet I also found my experience of Performance Practice in Baroque music helped me find a way of understanding and appreciating Mozart's style.

The inclusion of early, middle and late Sonatas on this disk conveys a balanced survey of Mozart's music for violin and keyboard. Each Sonata stands out clearly in it's own right, revealing a snapshot in time of his developing personality.

This is an ongoing voyage of discovery for me, and I feel I am only at the beginning."
