"The performances are very acceptable indeed, the Trio Parnassus proving worthy ambassadors." - MusicWeb Jan 2005

"The performances are very acceptable indeed, the Trio Parnassus proving worthy ambassadors. There were times when I wanted them to etch things rather sharper and to cut rhythmic corners with greater incision, especially in the First trio and in the long opening movement of the last but there are benefits in their overview as well."
- MusicWeb Jan 2005

"A world-class Trio. They play with superb unanimity of ensemble and consummate polish. There is an abundance of youthful verve, too, well tempered by painstaking attention to dynamics and tempo markings and keen sensitivity to the changing moods of this music. At the piano, Chia Chou is brilliant and stylish but never obtrusive while Streicher´s violin playing is wonderfully in tune and very musical, glowing with warmth of tone. The music is utterly captivating."
(American Record Guide)

During the last third of the nineteenth century, Rheinberger was regarded as the premier composition teacher. Many students from many different countries and influences from Liechtenstein, Austria, and Germany, his own three homes, left their traces in his trios composed over a period of forty years. International dimensions were assumed not only by Rheinberger's work as a teacher and composer but also by his concertizing. He premiered the first of his own piano trios in 1866, and of this the press then wrote, "The pianist towered high above his two companions in playing and interpretation." (It remains to be seen whether the same can be said of the present production…)
