An exploration of the Sanskrit Hymns of the Rig Veda for chamber ensemble and computer generated quadrophonic tape.
'Bhakti' (1982), for chamber ensemble and electronic sounds, is primarily about sound. But Harvey builds his sounds out of pitches and instrumental phrases, and then extends them in the electronic sound, which, as Harvey writes, "has many functions: of dialogue, transformation, memory, anticipation, 'simultaneous translation' and of reaching beyond the instrumental scale to a more universal dimension." This performance is by Spectrum, a London-based chamber ensemble, conducted by Guy Protheroe.
