Some of Boccherini's cello concertos are popular. But a complete set of all 12 is hard to find.This release has them all with cellist Enrico Bronzi as the soloist. He plays together with the Italian ensemble Accademia i Filarmonici di Verona which he conducts as well.
Some of the musicians in this ensemble also work as principals of the main Italian orchestras like the one of La Scala, others are chamber musicians or teachers.
Boccherini had a great affinity with the cello. Each of the 12 concertos is a musical gem, well-suited for the instrument, delightfully light-hearted. The Italian performers provide a sunny listening experience.
