Influenced as much by rock & dance music as by his predecessors in the "classical" minimalist movement such as Steve Reich, with whom he studied, and Phillip Glass, Marc Mellits' quirky music is full of grooves, loops, electric guitars & more.

Influenced as much by rock & dance music as by his predecessors in the "classical" minimalist movement such as Steve Reich, with whom he studied, and Phillip Glass, Marc Mellits' quirky music is full of grooves, loops, electric guitars & keyboards, the height of "cool" in contemporary music!

In true minimalist style there are also some more chilled trance-based pieces on this album, which will appeal to the chill-out audience. Marc's music is boundary-crossing in that it appeals to the contemporary classical audience as well as lovers of dance, trance & electronica. His sense of humour combined with his highly accomplished composition skills (he is considered one of the most talented living composers in the U.S.A.) means his music is appealing & approachable, but not "dumbed down".

This album follows the success of Black Box's previous release of Marc's 'String Quartet No. 2' and continues their important survey of contemporary American composers.
