Sierra Maestra's second World Circuit release traces the origins of son from its roots in the 19th century to its modern role as the source of salsa. The earthy sounds of "¿Dónde va Chichi?" sit comfortably alongside the big band sophistication of "Yo soy Tiburón" while "El guararey de Pastora" - played in a style that dates back to pre-1900 - provides an enlightening contrast to the Fifties swing of the title track.
