Brigitte Engerer, the internationally-renowned French pianist, died on June 23rd 2012 at the age of 59. Generous and impassioned, she attracted a wide audience in doing what she loved most: playing the piano, giving concerts, and communicating with the public. Brigitte Engerer left behind her an immense discography. In 2010 Decca France reissued the albums she recorded in the Eighties for Philips and Le Chant du Monde, devoted to the works of Chopin, Schubert, Liszt, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. All those performances are marked by Brigitte Engerer's tireless search for musical truth, a quest to which she brought the sum of her considerable talents. Now they are available as a 6CD boxed-set completed by recordings which were previously unavailable on CD: Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy, together with some of Franz Liszt's transcriptions of Schubert's Lieder.
