Anton & Paul Bohemian composers Paul Wranitzky (1756-1808) and Anton Wranitzky (1761-1820) were among the most important personalities on the Viennese music scene in around the year 1800. Both Wranitzky enjoyed an excellent reputacion among their more colleagues in Vienna. As a composer, Paul was the most productive and successful of the two half-brothers. He composed in all genres typical of the day -some 50 symphonies, several instrumental concertos and numerous chamber works. Anton Wranitzky's œuvres is less comprehensive than that of this half-brother and is more concentrated on works for his own instrument, the violin.
