Scenes from a Marriage: The tension between a high-flying artistic existence and down-to-earth middle-class life was the theme of the Richard Strauss Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011. The musical highlight of the festival was without a doubt the concert performance of Strauss's opera Intermezzo by the Munich Radio Orchestra under Ulf Schirmer, recorded here on CPO.
