Vanessa Benelli Mosell (piano)

[ Decca / CD ]

Release Date: Wednesday 1 July 2015

[R]evolution celebrates the Decca debut for Italian pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell and is a tribute to the music of the twentieth century.

This album includes 8 of the Klavierstücke by Stockhausen that Vanessa studied with the composer himself, together with one of the most famous masterworks of this century, Stravinsky's Trois Mouvements de Petrouchka and a world premier recording of Karol Beffa's Suite pour Piano ou Clavecin.

Vanessa is a rising star on the international music scene, continuously praised for her virtuosity, technical brilliance and the sensitivity of her musical insight, which have been shaped significantly in mentorships with Karlheinz Stockhausen and Yuri Bashmet

"Mosell confronts [Stockhausen's] music fearlessly, shaping the smaller-scale pieces (the shortest, Klavierstück III, lasts just 38 seconds) as elegantly as she can, taking their technical challenges in her stride and above all conveying the sense of cutting-edge invention and innovation that is so characteristic of Stockhausen's early music."
