Craig Ogden is one of the most famous guitarists of our time, and has recorded a wide range of music ranging from Tippett, through to his highly successful albums released on the Classic FM label.
Belfast born Brian Knowles composed his concerto for his son, also a guitarist, and it has an instant appeal - memorable tunes, a beautiful slow movement and a lively finale. The music has the uncanny ability to remain in the listener's head long after CD has finished. The Eight Songs are settings of Shakespeare, Shelley, de la Mare, Byron and Burns. Witty, touching and technically demanding for both performers the music is unfailingly approachable. A Fond Farewell was composed when Knowles was on a series of long tours with Roger Whittaker (as music director), and is a reflection on the often lonely and nomadic life of the musician. Poco Rondo for solo guitar was written for Craig. It is a technically demanding piece, jazz inspired and huge fun!
