2018 winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, Eric Lu presents his second recording for Warner Classics, selecting special works by Chopin, Brahms, and Schumann.
The three works Eric chose for this project each present unique beauty and challenges, yet when put together they flow from one to the other in pleasant synchronicity: Chopin's 24 Préludes, Brahms's Intermezzo No.1, and Schumann's Ghost Variations.
"Artistry of that kind is rare in pianists of any age; to find it in a 20-year old is simply astounding" - The Daily Telegraph, September 2018
"Eric Lu is a young pianist blessed with what sounds like an 'old soul'…The programme is both effective and unsettling…Lu's playing is in a rare class - one that has a vacancy since Radu Lupu's retirement. This type of sensitivity and emotional intuition does not grow on trees, especially no when served by such a technique, with richly singing tone and delicate fleetness of finger…Moreover, there's high finesse in his control of nuance and ability to create subtle, intense atmospheres…Wonderful."
