"The performances of Bach's Magnificat with Cantata No 21, is in every way recommendable. Indeed Nicholas Anderson's original review commented that in the Magnificat Sigiswald Kuijken and La Petite Bande 'reach the heart of Bach's music more convincingly than almost any other [version] currently available'. He went on to comment that he found Kuijken's performance of Ich hatte viel Bekummernis 'profoundly affecting', although he also noticed some instrumental insecurity. But for me the lovely solo and choral singing in both works, coupled to a superbly atmospheric recording, made this a Bach CD to treasure."
