Karajan was a great exponent of Sibelius's music and recorded all seven symphonies for EMI with the Philharmonia Orchestra in the 1950s. In the late 70s and early 80s he recorded them all again with the Berlin Philharmonic, with the exception of numbers 3 & 7.
