This recording is dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi's extraordinary works for bassoon and illuminates the works in the light of their autograph tradition. Based on the Turin manuscripts, a historically informed interpretation unfolds, impressively showcasing the tonal diversity and virtuosity of the bassoon in Vivaldi's late works.
Miho Fukui plays concertos for baroque bassoon and baroque oboe together with Ensemble F, thus directly continuing Vivaldi's practice of flexibly conceiving solo parts between the central reed instruments of his time. Played on historical instruments and supported by current musicological research, this recording combines source study with lively musical expressiveness - and opens up an authentic approach to one of the Venetian master's most fascinating groups of works.
