In the album "Cantà in cumpagnia", Corsican vocal tradition and the art music of the Italian Renaissance come together in a unique way. Four singers and four wind players combine medieval lauds, madrigals, and motets with the living tradition of Corsican polyphony and improvised diminution.
Recorded at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Mandriale, the album creates an impressive sonic space that bridges oral tradition and historical performance practice-archaic, virtuosic, and imbued with great atmospheric depth.
