'The Night' was recorded just prior to Mark Sandman's death in 1999. It is the band's fifth studio album on Ryko & follow-up to 'Like Swimming' (1997). A most accomplished, beautiful, haunting & expressive recording feturing a host of guest musicians who embellish the familiar Morphine trio sound with strings, acoustic guitar, piano, organ & backing vocals. A fitting farewell to a fine band.
