For its time, 'Not of This Earth' was meticulously put together and indeed, brilliantly recorded. It contains some superb compositions including the title track, "The Snake", "Rubina", "Driving at Night" and the album closer, "The Headless Horseman", as well as the unforgettable epic, "Hordes of Locusts".

Although Joe was later to go on to construct more varied & intricately produced records like 'Flying in a Blue Dream', 'Crystal Planet', and the experimental 'Engines of Creation', 'Not of this Earth' still contains a certain vibe that remains mysteriously appealing. It is imbued with a special magic that comes from the very inner being of this most respected & talented of guitar wizards, and is totally worth checking out, even if only to see where it all began!"
