The ex-Doobie Brother vocalist captures the classic sound of the Motown era with new interpretations.

Michael McDonald revitalised the career of The Doobie Brothers when he joined in 1975 after working previously with Steely Dan. Under Michael's leadership, the band released the Platinum selling album 'Taking it to The Streets' and went on to win several Grammy awards including triple-Grammy's for What A Fool Believes.

Michael left the Doobies' in 1982 to pursue his solo career and has seen great success including collaborations with Donna Summer, Toto, Patti Labelle, James Ingram and Christopher Cross.

On hiss new album, Michael has captured the classic sound of the Motown era with new interpretations. 'In a way,' he says, "it's always been a challenge to pick a song that was a classic record and try to bring something to it that doesn't hurt or expose you too much, but is maybe a new and different perspective on the song."

'Motown' lets these classic songs live again in a contemporary setting with no less soul than when originally recorded.
