The authentic GC diversity of Mark Rae, Amp Fiddler, Souls Of Mischief, Pharcyde, Veba, Kriminul, Kate Rogers, Aim, Niko, Fingathing, Funky Fresh Few, Jungle Brothers, Skitz, Only Child, Tony D, Jon Kennedy, Rob Smith…

Qool DJ Marv, longtime friend of Grand Central and renowned New York DJ, has compiled 70min of some of the finest Grand Central tuneage into 'Grand Central Translation, as only the "king of mixtapes" knows how.

It was DJ Spinna who introduced Marv to the Grand Central crew back in '99 as his favourite DJ, an accolade Mary J Blige also bestows upon him. He is responsible for unearthing the talent of Jill Scott. He has played in the gritty funkiness of the Lower East Side and HBO premiere parties for 'The Sopranos' and 'Sex In The City' as the resident DJ at the legendary Tramps nightclub (now Centro-Fly). He has opened for acts as diverse as Prince, Erykah Badu, George Clinton and P-Funk, Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, Chaka Khan, De La Soul… you getting the picture?

In Marv's words: "I wanted this mix to illustrate Grand Central's authentic diversity, just check the cast of characters… Mark Rae, Amp Fiddler, Souls Of Mischief, Pharcyde, Veba, Kriminul, Kate Rogers, Aim, Niko, Fingathing, Funky Fresh Few, Jungle Brothers, Skitz, Only Child, Tony D, Jon Kennedy, Rob Smith… my only regret is that I could've done another two discs! I feel like the man came in and broke up the party 70min into my 3hr set!"

"After you hear 10min of 'Grand Central Translation' it's plain to hear this is anything but randomly slung together. To call the set… a "slick mix" hardly does it justice: it would be far more fair and accurate to declare this the work of a turntable genius."
