Ed Rush and Optical (aka Ben Settle and Matt Quinn) are two of the best known DJs/producers in the D&B scene and are a very well established name in the dance music scene as a whole. Their debut 'Wormhole' is largely recognized as the single most important d&b album ever, while 'The Creeps' and 'The Original Dr Shade' cemented their reputation as leaders in the game.

Even before they hooked up to create the legendary Virus label the pair were remarkably active: Optical engineered Goldie's mammoth artist album 'Saturnz Returnz', Grooverider's debut 'Mysteries Of Funk' and Dom and Roland's debut 'Industry'. Ed Rush helped mould the tech step sound as far back as '93, the dark, brooding sound he helped craft paved the way for the likes of Bad Company, while his own 12"s were being released on legendary D&B labels Metalheadz, No U-Turn and Prototype.

'Out Of The Box' is a monster - the 22 dance floor tracks mixed together by Ed Rush and Optical include tunes from J Majik, Capone (aka Dillinja), MIST, Dom and Roland, their own productions and remixes from Pendulum, Hive and many more big hitters.

Also included in the package is a fantastic feature length DVD filmed in four different countries and includes comprehensive interviews with Ed Rush and Optical, a 'Day In The Life' segment, studio tips and interviews with a number of the scene's figureheads about the impact these two have had; as well as live DJ footage and a great insight into the lives of two of drum and bass' most notable characters. A true representation of the underground sound of D&B at its finest. Not for the faint-hearted!
