This Portland-based songwriter bridges the gaps between the roots of various American musical traditions: folk, country, blues and rock.

"Another masterclass in deft guitar picking, smudged with piano, harmonica and a voice like honey drizzled onto a dry creekbed."
- Uncut

M. Ward is a Portland-based songwriter whose music seems to occupy a place that is uniquely "out of time", a place that bridges the gaps between the roots of various American musical traditions: folk, country, blues and rock.

Opening with a beautiful John Fahey-esque instrumental version of the Beach Boys' 'You Still Believe In Me', 'Transistor Radio' continues down a well-worn, dusty path full of timeless, unquestionably American stories.

Armed with a guitar, harmonica, and sparse percussion, Ward spins simple yet eloquent tales alive with imagery and metaphor, told in a raspy, sepia-toned croon. Listening to 'Transistor Radio' is like thumbing through an old family photo album, full of photographs fading around the edges - an imperfection that only adds to the clarity of their memories.

In composition and style he has been compared to luminaries like Tom Waits, Grandaddy and Sparklehorse. 'Transistor Radio' is his fourth solo album, following the acclaimed 'End of Amnesia' and 'Transfiguration Of Vincent'.
