2 Million and Rising

Despite being firmly rooted in the drum&bass scene, '2 Million And Rising' is an album that stylistically pushes the boundaries, packed with musical references which will increase its appeal well beyond the jungle circles.

Influx UK's '2 Million and Rising' is the Formation label's 15th long-playing release "The album is the best of the tunes I've made over the last 3 years or so", Gavin Influx reveals, "I'm taking drum and bass somewhere new, where the spaces between beats are important instead of filling every gap - funk with the spaces…I've settled on the fact that my tunes will never be big rave tunes, it's more about the intimate vibe".

With the blues-fused 'Do Right Do Wrong' and the splendid synth-washed 'The Siren' (the 21st century equivalent of Goldie's famous 'Inner City Life', no less) the unique talent of Influx UK comes completely to life. With dancefloor favourite 'Shine', the strong retro flavours of 'Ghost People' and '97 Moody' (reminiscent of the legendary Metalheadz nights of the same year), the great breaks and vocal delivery of 'Survival', and the mellow groove of 'Souls Unite' and 'Two Million And Rising' ensure this album delivers a diverse array of sounds and styles, where the punishing fast rhythms of drum'n'bass are tamed by the sheer quality of the melody and lush sonic backdrop.

Support has been forthcoming from as broad a range of people as the UK's Steve Lamacq, Marky, Fabio, Grooverider, Breezeblock crew and L Double all supporting tracks including 'Shine', 'Do Right, Do Wrong', title tune '2 Million and Rising' and 'Souls Unite', / '97 Moody'.
