James Zabiela continues to prove he's at the forefront of DJing with this eagerly awaited follow up to 'Alive' - a brand new mix utilizing a broad range of new tools.

What is the future of DJing? Three partisan camps have emerged: vinyl, CD and totally digital, using computer technology, such as the Ableton, which Sasha used on his 'Involver' and 'Fundacion NYC' albums. One thing is certain: the modern DJ has more options as to how to mix than ever before. Remember, it was only five years ago that three decks were considered something of a novelty.

Witness James Zabiela's 'Renaissance Presents: Utilities' as testament - the album can be considered one of the defining moments in this development - and now Zabiela returns with a brand new mix utilizing a broad range of these new tools.

But let's not forget that beyond the innovation and mixing techniques, Zabiela's distinct musical style remains at the heart of the album. 'Utilities' features two stonking house mixes:

CD1 "computed", using digital technology only features the likes of Aphex Twin remixed by Kriece, Infusions remixing Will Saul and fast-rising stars Hugg and Pepp.

CD2 is "recorded", [described by Zabiela as "a true reflection of my sound in a club"] and sees the young DJ making a welcome return to last years live format of 3 CDJs, samplers and an EFX unit, and features the likes of Trentemoller, Montero, Buick Project and Elite Force remixing PMT.
